The Bay Area Hospital in Coos County is a publicly-owned hospital that serves Oregon's south coast and provides assistance to other smaller community hospitals. But after facing financial difficulties, the hospital Board is considering selling the hospital to a private company in Tennessee with a history of closing rural hospitals!
The Board of Directors seems to think that selling all the contents of the hospital and leasing the land is the only path forward, but it's not. UFCW Local 555 has proposed a Shared Responsibility Plan that would support the hospital with a combination of modest local support with State matching funds. It's just a matter of the Coastal lawmakers asking for it to pass!
Fill out the form on this page to send a message to lawmakers urging them to support and pass the Shared Responsibilty Plan to keep the Bay Area Hospital open, safe, and in good hands!
